Calea launched their new advice line in January 2017 with the recruitment of a home therapy specialist nursing team.
The enhanced service will mean that a dedicated team of seven7 specialised, knowledgeable and experienced home therapy nurses will be on hand to support our patients 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
Although Calea has always provided an advice line the service was covered by our full team of nurses. With the move to a dedicated team w
e will be able to offer an enhanced service with a team trained in troubleshooting and supporting people via the phone. Calea plan to continuously enhance this service and are looking into the best ways of supporting patients remotely in a timely and appropriate manner.
We are dedicated to providing patient centred care and maintaining high levels of patient satisfaction. The advice line receives calls from patients using our service for Home Parenteral Nutrition (HPN), Out Patient Antibiotics (OPAT), Immunotherapy and also from Fresenius Kabi patients on Enteral Nutrition. The nurses recruited have an understanding of all therapy areas and ensure the maintenance of competencies through regular field work and shadowing.
Louise Sandham-White, Senior Professional Development Manager, heads up the service and has been involved in the launch ‘The new team have a wealth of experience and our intensive induction programme of training and shadowing has enabled the creation of an exceptional team set to meet and exceed the needs of those patients needing advice.’
Elaine Neil leads the Professional Development Team and added ‘The new set up will further enhance our service to patients and will also enable us to track trends in calls so we can audit the service and in turn continuously make improvements.’
