Home Parenteral Support

Calea provides home parenteral support (HPS) services to patients across England and Wales, working in partnership with each NHS hospital trust to ensure each individual patient's needs are met. Our HPS services are tailored to suit the range of people we support - offering solutions that foster independence and self-care as much as is appropriate and in the interests of the individual patient.

As part of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and care excellence we work to a clinical governance framework that was developed in line with the NHS and the Commercial Medicines Unit (CMU) frameworks. Rigorous quality control, clinical and information governance procedures ensure that all our patients receive the very best and safest standards of care. All our staff strive to continuously improve on our high standards of care by monitoring service levels against agreed quality standards.

How the Calea service works

As soon as the decision has been made between an individual and the hospital team that HPS is the agreed management plan, and the Calea team have been contacted, then the arrangements begin. Calea aims to make the transition from hospital to home as smooth as possible, and to ensure that each patient receives the support that is optimised for them as an individual.

Even though we are proud of the service Calea provides, don't take our word for it. Hear from one of our patients about her experience of being discharged from hospital on parenteral nutrition, her initial challenges, and how she overcame this with help from the Calea team.
