About us

Calea was set up in 1990 as a company dedicated to enabling people on specialist medicines to receive their treatment at home. Previously, if someone needed these treatments, they would have needed to stay in hospital. This meant lots of time away from home, school, work, and family and friends, which disrupted peoples' lives. The advent of Calea helped to change this and the company has grown with approximately 1,000 adults and children currently on the Calea homecare service. In recent years, Calea has expanded to provide biosimilar medicines homecare for people with certain autoimmune conditions.

Calea is part of Fresenius Kabi, a global healthcare company specialising in lifesaving medicines and therapies for critically and chronically ill patients. Both Calea and Fresenius Kabi share the common philosophy of ‘Committed to Life’ and have an unswerving dedication to improving quality of life for patients in hospital and at home.

Our expertise

We work closely with the NHS to help ensure seamless care between hospital and home and have a large team of professionals with specialist knowledge in the medical conditions you (or the person/people you care for) have.  Our services range from coordinating, dispensing and delivering high-tech and low-tech medicines for people who prefer to manage their own treatments, to specialist nursing services for those who need more support. Whatever the requirements, each one of our patients receives a package of care that is individualised to them.
